I'm Hannes.
Mental Trainer. Adventure Rider. Founder of Mindful Rider.
I guide riders back to themselves, to inner stability, clarity and the grip they need, on the bike and in life.
How Mindful Rider came to be
It was in South America. I was travelling by motorcycle as I had been for years, and one day in Ecuador something happened that I still can’t quite put into words.
I was present at ritual ceremonies, at dances and at moments where the people around me lived a connection to themselves, to nature and to something greater that I had never encountered in my Western world.
In these moments I felt what has somehow slipped away from us. This connection, this contact with oneself, this feeling of being grounded. Not in a technical sense, but in a human one.
And I asked myself: how can I make this accessible to others?
The answer didn’t come immediately. But eventually it became clear through the motorcycle. Through the experience of riding. Through the presence, the freedom, the boundary experiences that life on two wheels brings.
That’s how Mindful Rider was born. Not at a desk but on gravel roads somewhere between the Andes and the Atlantic.
Riding is my life
I’ve been riding since 2012. Two of those years I spent in Australia with a bike and no fixed destination but with plenty of time. Then South America again and again. Chile, Ushuaia, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia.
I don’t have a car. I don’t need one.
The motorcycle has brought me closer to myself in many ways. Sometimes gently and sometimes quite the opposite.
The near-death experience and what it gave me
I see my accident as a gift. That might sound strange. But it’s true.
There was a moment on the bike during the crash where I didn’t know whether I would survive that day. What came after changed me fundamentally.
I learned what it means to be in your own body. I got to know my self-healing capacities in a way I hadn’t thought possible before. And something else happened: a deeper connection grew, to myself, to what sustains me and to what truly matters.
Today, that experience is the foundation of my work. I know what I’m talking about when someone comes to me and says: since the crash, I’m not myself anymore.
I was there. I know that place. And I know there’s a way from there.
What happens when you come to me
You enter a space where you can be completely and wholly yourself, free of judgement.
That’s the only thing I can guarantee you from the start.
What happens then can’t always be put into words. Sometimes we take unexpected paths and sometimes we discover things that may still be hidden from you, about yourself, your patterns, your strengths and your system.
I give you the safety to look there, because we look together. And it’s worth it.
I hold the space in which you ride yourself, at your own pace and on your own line.
